So far in our ‘Successful Email Marketing’ series, we’ve gone over the Elements of a Great Campaign and the Types of Emails to Send.

Today, we’d like to go over things you should not forget about in your email marketing efforts. Let’s kick things off with a first point that you legally need to abide by – the CAN-SPAM Act.

Regardless of email type, it is required by law to have a section which allows people to opt-out of receiving further communication from your company. This act, as the Bureau of Consumer Protection explains, is “a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have you stop emailing them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.” In regards to the tough penalties, make sure any opt-out requests are handled promptly, so you don not encounter any punishments.
